Location of role
  • Flexible location near major airport; Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Alice Springs, Darwin
  • 70 nights of travel to the regions (per annum)


Value

Base salary of $65,000 - $80,000 pending professional experience + Superannuation

Travel allowance for remote travel estimated at $9,500.40 ($135.72 per night ex Super)

6 weeks paid annual leave + days in lieu (commonly 2 additional weeks per year)

Total package between $74,500.40 - $89,500.40 + Superannuation

Introduction

Are you an experienced Field Operations Manager in the outdoor education, tourism, or events space? Do you have a history of delivering programs to a very high standard? Do you enjoy managing resources and getting out in the field to help deliver successful programs? Would you relish the prospect of forging relationships with Traditional Owners and building capacity in First Nations communities? Are you ready for your next long-term role at a growing organisation? Red Earth is looking for a driven Field Operations Manager who is passionate about helping to connect young people to the First Nation partner homelands. This is an amazing chance for someone to manage the operational delivery of our programs across the Northern Territory (Darwin and Alice Springs) and New South Wales (Lake Mungo), working at the cross-roads of outdoor education and First Nations space. This role can be based in a variety of locations near a major airport based on your personal circumstances, such as, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Alice Springs, or Darwin.

Organisation Outline

We are a small social enterprise with 16 employees focused on connecting people students to First Nations Australia. We do this by creating 5-day to 9-day Immersion programs to First Nations communities and homelands where participants learn from Elders, visit cultural sites, and volunteer on a service project in the community. As we are a small organisation, all employees work closely with one another.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • 3+ years of outdoor ed experience
  • 3+ years of experience in logistics and planning
  • Tertiary qualifications where relevant
  • Experience working in First Nations communities desired but not required
  • Experience working with high school students, adults, and corporate groups
  • Experience supervising staff
  • Advanced 4WD experience, or willingness to obtain
  • Remote Area First Aid or equivalent or willingness to obtain
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft suite of products
  • Experience organising or preparing for large scale events or travel
  • Proven ability to follow set processes and systems
  • Strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent administration skills.
  • Ability to work to strict timelines with independence and dedication
  • Excellent interpersonal and people management skills

Regional Assistants/Bus Drivers - Cape York, Central Australia, Top End and Hawkesbury

We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic and reliable Regional Assistants (Bus Drivers) to join our team as we continue to grow within our regions of operation – Cape York, Central Australia and the Top End.

The ideal candidate has experience working with school groups, and is passionate about providing a positive and safe experience for their clients. They will also be based in, or willing to relocate to, Alice Springs, Cairns or Darwin, and have worked in education, tourism or First Nations engagement.

This role would be suited to an individual seeking casual or short-term contract work (up to 6 months). Our busiest periods of operation are throughout the June-July and September-October school holidays.

  • Hold a full manual driver’s license (Medium Rigid or higher) and driver authority
  • Hold or be eligible for a Working With Children Check

  • Have 2+ years experience driving in similar environments or for similar charters (regional/remote locations, overnight, basic accommodation, camping with group)
  • Want to learn more about First Nations culture.
